Short answer: registration for JEE Main 2027 Session 1 is open on jeemain.nta.nic.in until 22 November 2026, 11:50 PM. The exam is on 20–24 and 28 January 2027. Apply early, use your own DigiLocker login, and make sure your name and date of birth match your Class 10 certificate exactly. Everything below comes from NTA's public notice of 24 October 2026 and the JEE Main 2027 Information Bulletin.

Who can apply
There's no age limit. You can appear if you passed Class 12 (or equivalent) in 2025 or 2026, or are appearing for it in 2027. Individual institutes may have their own age rules for admission.
How to register, step by step
- Do a Re-KYC on DigiLocker first. NTA's advisory of 28 October 2026 asks candidates to do this before filling the form, so your latest details are fetched.
- Log in through MeriPehchaan with your own account. Use your own DigiLocker, JanParichay or e-Pramaan credentials, not a parent's or a cyber café's. A mismatch can cause trouble at identity checks later.
- Note your application number and password. You'll need them for both sessions, the admit card and the result.
- Fill in your details. Your name and date of birth must be exactly as on your Class 10 certificate or marksheet.
- Upload your documents (see the table below), and take a live photo with your webcam or phone.
- Choose your exam cities and pay the fee. Your application is complete only when the Confirmation Page is generated. Save and print it.
Submit only one application. NTA treats multiple forms as unfair means, even if it finds out later.

- 75 questions, 300 marks, 3 hours. The shifts are 9:00 AM–12:00 noon and 3:00–6:00 PM.
- Marking: +4 for a correct answer and −1 for a wrong one, in both Section A and Section B. Unanswered questions get 0.
- Section B answers are entered as integers, rounded to the nearest whole number, using an on-screen keypad. Our guide to numerical-answer questions covers how to handle them.
- Ties in the total are broken first by the Mathematics score, then Physics, then Chemistry.
On exam day
- Gates close 30 minutes before the exam starts. Late candidates are not allowed in.
- Carry a clear A4 printout of the admit card with the filled-in self-declaration, and two extra passport-size photos (the same as the one uploaded).
- Not allowed: calculators, phones, any watch, geometry boxes, paper and other stationery, and electronic devices. Water in a transparent bottle is allowed. Rough sheets and a pen are given at the centre.
Our parents' checklist covers how families can take over this paperwork so the student can keep studying.
What to do with the time left
From the start of November to 20 January is about 11 weeks. That's enough to repair your weakest chapters if you start now. Our 12-week plan shows how to divide the time, and mock test analysis helps you see what's actually costing marks.
